If you're reading this, chances are you're not just looking for childcare.
You're looking for a place.
A feeling.
An environment.
A trusted adult.
A safe home where your child can spend time learning, growing, reading, exploring, and being a kid.
That's exactly what we're trying to create at Casa Signora.
So welcome.
We're glad you're here.
At the most basic level, Casa Signora is a home in Rose Park, Salt Lake City.
But that's not really what it is.
Casa Signora is an idea.
It's the belief that children benefit from structure, responsibility, kindness, curiosity, and consistency.
It's the belief that childcare can be about more than simply keeping children occupied until their parents come home.
And it's the belief that childhood should include both fun and growth.
"Casa Signora" roughly translates to "The House of Signora."
The name started as a playful reference to our home, but over time it became something larger.
Today, Casa Signora represents a place where people are welcome.
Where relationships matter.
Where children are encouraged to become the best versions of themselves.
And where everyone—from guests to dogs—is treated with kindness and respect.
Many childcare environments focus primarily on supervision.
And supervision is important.
Children need to be safe.
But we believe children deserve more than supervision.
At Casa Signora, children are encouraged to:
Read
Learn
Explore
Ask questions
Build responsibility
Practice kindness
Develop confidence
We want children to leave with more than memories.
We want them to leave with life skills.
Every good home has a cast of characters.
Casa Signora is no exception.
You'll meet:
The heart of the operation.
Miss Raven provides childcare built around patience, kindness, consistency, and structure.
Children quickly discover that Miss Raven is both caring and capable of holding them accountable.
Which, frankly, is a pretty good combination.
That's me.
I help support the vision of Casa Signora, maintain the property, write many of the articles on this website, and occasionally serve as Chief Executive Officer of Reading Books and Drinking Coffee.
An important position.
The smallest residents of Casa Signora.
These two dogs spend much of their time teaching children lessons about empathy, patience, gentleness, and occasionally how not to leave snacks unattended.
They are beloved members of the household and important parts of the Casa Signora experience.
One of the things we're especially excited about is the future Study Grotto.
The idea is simple.
Create a space where children can:
Read
Complete homework
Focus
Learn independently
Explore ideas
No endless distractions.
No constant stimulation.
Just a place where learning is encouraged and curiosity is rewarded.
In today's world, that feels increasingly valuable.
Every home has values.
These are ours.
Treat people well.
Treat animals well.
Treat yourself well.
Clean up your messes.
Keep your promises.
Own your mistakes.
Be kind even when it's not required.
Especially when it's not required.
Ask questions.
Read books.
Explore ideas.
Try new things.
Mistakes happen.
Learn from them.
Grow from them.
Move forward.
Sometimes when people hear words like responsibility and accountability, they imagine a very serious environment.
That's not us.
There will be:
Laughter
Games
Outdoor adventures
Stories
Creativity
Imagination
Children deserve joy.
They deserve wonder.
They deserve opportunities to simply be children.
The goal is balance.
Because we love it here.
Rose Park is one of Salt Lake City's most underrated neighborhoods.
It's diverse.
It's welcoming.
It's connected.
It's close to downtown while still maintaining a strong neighborhood identity.
It's the kind of place where community still matters.
And that's exactly the kind of place where Casa Signora belongs.
When families spend time with us, we hope they notice something.
Not perfection.
Not luxury.
Not a polished corporate experience.
We hope they notice warmth.
Consistency.
Character.
A genuine effort to create a positive environment for children.
Because ultimately, that's what Casa Signora is all about.
The world moves fast.
Childhood moves even faster.
At Casa Signora, we're trying to create a place where children can slow down enough to read a book, learn a lesson, ask a question, make a friend, pet a dog, and grow into the kind of person their future self will be proud of.
That's the vision.
That's the mission.
And if you're reading this, we'd love to welcome you to Casa Signora.
Pull up a chair.
The coffee is probably brewing.
The dogs are probably sleeping.
And there's always another story waiting to be written.
